The Team

Alex Freeborn – Expedition Director

Founder of Back Out There™ and experienced expedition leader. Alex has led
mountaineering and trekking expeditions to the Himalayas, Andes, European Alps, Dolomites, and
to many other fascinating and rugged corners of the globe. He thrives in the outdoors. He is from Fife
the birthplace of Stuart. His aim is to use the expedition as a catalyst to get our wounded, injured
veterans back out using their immense skills to serve society and find employment. He is undergoing treatment for PTSD.

Boz Zamboni – Expedition Chief of Staff

Boz (named so from his original Balkan roots) is a self-confessed adrenalin junky, hugely
experienced expedition planner and leader. He has raised thousands of dollars and pounds
for charity over the years and is also a trustee of BackOutThere™

Rich Hungerford – Bush Craft

A survival expert Rich will be looking after the survival side of things but his extensive knowledge
of the interior of Australia as a SAS soldier and lead survival expert is vital to our safety and success.
He is currently the owner Director of Bush Lore Australia. He will also look after the risk assessment
for the expedition. This is his specialty and the perfect man for the job.

Harriet Church – UK Expedition fundraiser and Army veterinarian

She has an infectious enthusiasm for life, full of energy and red hair. We hope the enthusiasm rubs
off on our potential sponsors.

David Clift – An ex SAS officer, Cambridge graduate and our Equine veterinarian

A vast amount of expedition and equine knowledge blended with a touch of SAS makes David the
absolute right choice as our equine vet. He runs his own practice in SE Queensland where he also
runs a small stud breeding Warmblood x TB's and Droughtmasters.

Steve Sunk OAM - the Walkabout Chef

Author of a book called the "Walkabout Chef". He is also an officer in NORFORCE as a reserve
in the Northern Territory. Based in Darwin with the University of Darwin, he knows many people in
the territory, goes out to remote Aboriginal townships and teaches cooking. Great for on the
ground knowledge of the terrain, weather and people.

Scott Polar Institute as a polar guide supporting scientists. Seconded from the UK FCO working
